Paisley Rugby Club kids back in action and roar Glasgow Warriors on to victory

Paisley Rugby Club’s youngest players enjoyed a run out at their home ground for the first time in more than two years.

The club’s P1-7 Minis took on Clydebank Rugby Club kids at the Anchor recently, with all the age groups getting involved in small-sided games.

As well as enjoying the afternoon themselves, the players also managed to brighten up the shifts of staff at Paisley Fire Station by dropping in some leftover treats.

The club’s Minis manager Laura Critchel said: “It was a brilliant afternoon with all age groups participating in games.

“There was also a great show of support from the Paisley family.

“Our amazing Minis parents also brought down an abundance of home baking.

“There was so much that some of our players made a surprise trip to Paisley Fire Station after their game to hand in cakes to our local fire fighters!”

It’s been a busy time for the club’s kids, with a group of P4 players travelling to Glasgow Warriors’ Scotstoun Stadium to take part in a mini rugby tournament.

They were also treated to the Warriors clash with the Emirates Lions, with the Glasgow side running out 13-9 winners on the day.

Critchel said: “Along with head coaches Simon and Stuart, as well as playing the kids were also lucky enough to watch the Warriors play the Lions in the third round of the United Rugby Championship.

“This was a fantastic opportunity for our youth players and it was a truly great day out for them from start to finish.”

Paisley Rugby Club are always on the lookout for new players looking to try their hand at the sport.

Critchel added: “We have training groups from age five and up, so if your child would like to join our brilliant team message the Paisley Rugby Club Facebook page for more information.”
