It’s cheers all round after Paisley’s oldest watering hole was declared Renfrewshire’s Pub of the Year for the second year running.
Staff at The Bull Inn , in New Street, were delighted to learn that the pub has once again been named the region’s top boozer by ale enthusiasts.
The highly regarded title is based entirely on votes from CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) members, and with hundreds of pubs in the area involved in the competition.
General manager Tony Ferris and his team, who work in the pub which has 19th Century roots, will have their award officially presented to them next month when the competition for Pub of the Year in Scotland and Northern Ireland kicks off.
The top pubs from each county – across the two countries – will undergo three mystery visits from CAMRA members, who will announce the overall winner later in the year.

Tony said: “It’s a great honour to be named Pub of the Year for Renfrewshire, not once but twice, especially since this is only the second time we’ve entered the competition.
“We came fourth overall last year, but I think we’re ready to go all the way to number one in Scotland.
“I strongly believe that the Bull Inn stands out because of the dedicated team behind the bar. All of us are serious beer enthusiasts too, and the level of care that goes into looking after our beers, from barrel to glass, makes all the difference.”
David Cassidy, chairman of the Renfrewshire CAMRA, said feedback received during the voting process showed how impressed the branch members were with both the variety and quality of the real ales over the entire
year.

“The wide range of breweries that they source their beer from ensures that going for a pint in the Bull is never a boring experience,” he said.
“The Bull Inn is also a National Heritage pub, due to the outstanding historical interior, making it a must-visit for any pub goer, whether you drink real ale or
not.
“Last year the pub made it through the judging to become one of the final four pubs in the running for Scotland and Northern Ireland Pub of The Year.
“Hopefully this year it can go at least one step further.”
