Paisley primary school set to take on Cash for Kids challenge

A Paisley primary is looking to make it two wins on the spin as they take on the Cash For Kids School Challenge.

St Paul’s Primary School, in Foxbar, took home a whopping £18,353 cash prize after securing the top spot last year.

Things might look a little different this time out due to the pandemic but staff and pupils are determined to collect as much money as possible for vulnerable children in Scotland - and retain their crown.

They have 25 days to collect as much money as possible for the Radio Clyde charity, which supports vulnerable children across the west coast of
Scotland.

Last year they held a host of fundraising events, including a dance-a-thon, bag packing, pyjama days and two brave teachers even completed a sky dive.

Lauren Reid and Sophie Coyle raised more than £2,000 after they hurled themselves from 10,000ft.

Yvonne Moohan, from the school’s parent council, said: “St Paul’s Primary had that much fun last year fundraising for Cash for Kids Challenge that we have decided to come back for a second year.

“Our aim this year is to raise as much money as possible for a great cause, a cause that responds to the needs of children in our community, aspires to enable all children to live life to the full and achieve their individual potential.

“These being important qualities to St Paul’s.

“The children will be involved in an exciting challenge, even more difficult in this year’s circumstances, fundraising for this worthy cause that will help these children and families
massively.

“Hopefully, they will also be in with a chance of winning a prize that will benefit the school greatly and allow for fantastic opportunities for the children.”

One pupil Natalia, 10, has already pledged to cycle to Loch Lomond Shores - a distance of 30 miles for the challenge next month.

They are also urging people walk or run 4km, donate £4 and nominate four others to do the same.
