Paisley police launch fresh appeal after man has jaw broken in unprovoked street attack

Paisley police have launched a further appeal after a man had his jaw broken in an unprovoked attack.

The 31-year-old man was assaulted in the town on Sunday afternoon.

A brute in a Celtic top approached a man in Stock Street, Paisley around 4.30pm and said: “Are you a Rangers fan?” before punching him in the face.

Officers say: "Around 4.15 pm on Sunday 31 March 2019 the 31 year-old man was walking along Stock Street when he was approached and assaulted by two men in an unprovoked attack.

"No weapons were used during this assault however the attack resulted in the man sustaining a broken jaw.

"Emergency services attended and the injured man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated.

Detective Constable Nicole McNairn, Paisley CID, said: “This man was seriously injured in this attack, of which we are currently still trying to find a motive. We are currently working to get a description of the two suspects in efforts to trace them.

"Our officers have been carrying out a number of enquiries, checking CCTV and speaking to those in the local area. However we know there were people who will have witnessed the attack who we have not already spoken to and we urge them to get in contact."
