Paisley police incident: Firebugs cause extensive damage to building housing two charities

Police are appealing for witnesses following a deliberate fire in Paisley that caused extensive damage to number of companies - including two charities.

The incident occurred in the early hours of this morning around 12:45am at a building on William Street.

Police and emergency services attended alongside fire crews and the blaze was extinguished.

Thankfully there was no one within the building, however, there has been significant damage.

Detective Constable Stephen Knox, Paisley CID, said: "There are a number of companies, including an engineering firm and two charities, in the building, but, at the moment, we don't know why this particular building was targeted.

"Although the building is on a side street, there are a number of houses in the area where someone may have seen or heard a noise around the time that would have seemed suspicious.

"The premises also backs on to a dual carriageway, Gallow Green Road, so if you were in the general area and maybe have any dash-cam footage from around that time, or any information, then we would like to hear from you.

"Information can be passed to the CID at Paisley Police Station via 101. Please quote reference number 0091 of 10 February, 2021. Details can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 11."
