Paisley man tied up and robbed in his own home

A Paisley man was tied up in his home and robbed in a “cowardly attack” in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The 57-year-old victim was targeted by the two younger men who he had been out drinking with earlier in the night.

After the pub he invited the callous pair back to his home in Whites Bridge Avenue, off Linwood Road in the town.

Once inside they turned on the man, tied him up and then stole his dark blue Peugeot 208 car and mobile phone.

The bound victim managed to free himself before alerting police at around 2am yesterday morning.

Officers arrived to find him badly shaken but unhurt.

Detective Inspector Robert Bowie, of Paisley CID, last night described the attack as cowardly.

He said: “The man had been befriended by two males and they all returned to his property to continue consuming alcohol.

“From there, he was tied up and his property was taken from him.

“He managed to call the police who attended and found him in a state of distress.”

Police released descriptions of the two men they are hunting.

The first is described as aged in his early-20s, around 5ft 10ins tall of an average build with blond, cropped hair.

The second suspect is aged in his mid to late-20s, also around 5ft 10ins tall with a slim build and dirty, fair hair. He was wearing a dark coloured sports jacket.

The stolen Peugeot 208 had a 64 registration plate.

DI Bowie added: “This was a despicable and cowardly attack on a man in his own home.

“He was left badly shaken by what happened and we are keen to catch the suspects as soon as possible.

“This was a targeted attack by the two men.

“Anyone with any information they think can assist us in this case can call us on 101.”
