Paisley man dies following home blaze

Neighbours have reacted with shock following the death of John Dalziel following a blaze in Paisley last night.

Mr Dalziel was rushed to the RAH but died a short time later.

Officers from Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team have been at the scene in Whites Bridge Avenue today trying to establish the cause of the blaze.

Stunned neighbours told the Paisley Daily Express how police descened on the scene.

One woman said: "John was always a nice quiet guy. He had problems more recently but no one deserves this to happen."

Another man added: "I used to come up and sit with him outside, it's so sad. He was a good guy. I don't know what happened to him."

A man, who asked not to be identified, said the area is normally quiet.

"It was a shock to see all the fire and police there last night really. To be honest, in all the time I've been here there hasn't been an issue," he added.
