Paisley Centre to remain closed 'until further notice' after roof collapse

The Paisley Centre has confirmed it will remain closed 'until further notice'.

The shopping centre was evacuated yesterday afternoon after a section of ceiling within the centre collapsed.

Emergency services rushed to the complex on High Street in Paisley just after 3pm following reports that the roof had caved in.

Thankfully, no-one was injured.

A Tweet from the Paisley Centre this morning (Tuesday) said: "The centre will be closed until further notice. Keep checking our social media pages for further updates."

Yesterday, a Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We are currently in attendance at the Paisley Centre on High Street, Paisley following reports of a collapsed structure.

“Operations Control have mobilised a number of resources to the scene, after the alarm was raised at 3.09pm on Monday, November 4.

“There are no reported casualties.”
