Paisley Centre evacuated after dramatic roof collapse

The Paisley Centre has been evacuated after the ceiling close to the entrance collapsed.

Emergency crews rushed to the High Street shopping mall just after 3pm after reports the roof had fallen in.

There are no reports of any injuries at this time.

It's understood the centre was emptied as police and fire crews made the area safe.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We are currently in attendance at the Paisley Centre on High Street, Paisley following reports of a collapsed structure.

“Operations Control have mobilised a number of resources to the scene, after the alarm was raised at 3.09pm on Monday, November 4.

“There are no reported casualties.”

John McDermott, of Cafe Su, said: "We were all evacuated at five past three.

"We heard a floor had collapsed.

"All the staff are on the street."

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed officers are in attendance.
