Pair who admitted breaking into Wishaw hotel and were spotted on CCTV remanded in custody

Two men caught red-handed after breaking into a Wishaw hotel must wait longer to be sentenced.

Aaron Gardner and James Townsley were spotted on CCTV then captured by police officers as they fled, carrying crowbars.

They admitted breaking into the Commercial Hotel in Main Street with intent to steal in the early hours of January 13.

Jennifer McLaren, prosecuting, said the alarm was raised by the hotel porter shortly after 1am.

Gardner, 21, and Townsley, 29, both described as prisoners, appeared via videolink at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday.

They were due to be sentenced, but because a criminal justice social work report was not available the case was adjourned until June 12.

The pair were remanded in custody.
