
TWO people will face court on Friday after police investigating a spate of break-ins arrested them this week.
Hunter Valley police began investigating the thefts that began at a Congewei property on June 18 where items including power tools, machinery and equipment were stolen.
Investigators searched a Wollombi Road property at Cessnock about 11am on Wednesday.
Police will allege they found a loaded .22 calibre pen gun, a sling shot, a defaced air rifle barrel, two cannabis plants, various tools, identity documents and electronic items believed to be the proceeds of crime.
All items were seized for forensic examination.
Officers also arrested a 33-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man at the property.
The man was charged with 10 offences including five counts of goods suspected stolen in/on premises, cultivate prohibited plant (small quantity), possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, supply, acquire or possess defaced firearm part and not keep firearm safely-prohibited firearm.
The woman was charged with nine offences including four counts of goods suspected stolen in/on premises, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, supply, acquire or possess defaced firearm part and not keep firearm safely-prohibited firearm.
Both were refused bail and faced Cessnock Local Court on Thursday.
They were denied bail again and are due to face the same court on Friday.
Investigations continue.
