Pair playing chess on the roof in Glasgow west end go viral as neighbours admire their gumption

Glasgow’s west end has seen some bizarre and strange sightings, but recently locals spotted a new spectacle that has weirdly gone viral.

Earlier this week, two mystery men were spotted playing chess on a rickety rooftop in the late afternoon, both seemingly unfazed by the light snowfall.

Byres Road locals who spotted the pair were left baffled and took to Twitter to ask questions - but some spectators admired their hard work and tolerance.

One retweet stated: “Oh my beloved Glasgow we take multi dimensional critical thinking literally and still come up with a plan and deliver.”

A Glasgow University student, 22, who lives opposite Hillhead Bookclub on the corner of Vinicombe Street, caught the game of chess on camera (video above).

It's nice to see that people are taking social distancing seriously - but this might just take it to new heights (get it?)

If you can identify our west end chess mavericks then get in touch on Facebook or Twitter.

We've said it before and we'll say it again, Glasgow - never change.
