Pair of premium Yubari melons fetches 3.2 million yen. at auction

Yubari melons, a distinctive summertime treat in Hokkaido, are on display in a box at the Sapporo Central Wholesale Market. A pair of the melons was sold for 3.2 million yen in the first auction of this season on Saturday. The price was the highest in Yubari melon auction history, beating the record of 3 million yen for a melon pair in 2016. A company engaged in the shipping of melons won the successful bid for this season's pair.
