Pair jailed after killing Gartcosh man and hiding body under mattress

Two relatives who killed a Gartcosh man before hiding his body have been put behind bars.

Stephen Mack, 53, and his nephew Jackson Mack, 21, attacked Stephen Anderson with a machete in his home last October.

The brutal duo initially faced a murder charge but a plea of culpable homicide was accepted.

Stephen Mack offered to help the victim's wife look for her missing loved-one only hours after the killing.

He was sentenced to 11 years in prison while Jackson Mack was given 10 years.

The court heard how Anderson, 51, was battered, bound and struck with a machete after an argument.

His body was later found by police under a mattress at Stephen Mack's home.

Judge Lady Rae said the reason for the "disturbing" violence was "not clear".

But she added: "What is despicable, Stephen Mack, is that you pretended ignorance to the whereabouts of Stephen Anderson."
