TWO people from Sydney visiting Lake Macquarie to fish are among the latest slapped with $1000 penalty infringement notices for breacing the pandemic lockdown laws.
Lake Macquarie police fined a 72-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman on Easter Monday after they were stopped at Dora Creek about 5pm.
Police said the pair told officers they intended to go fishing, which they were told was not a valid reasons to travel to a regional area.
Officers moved the pair on before interacting with them again 15 minutes later on Rocky Point Road at Eraring.
Both were given $1000 fines, among 55 issued across the state since police last updated the figures on Monday afternoon.
That tally lifts the number of fines over coronavirus breaches to more than 500, up 55 from a Monday update that included two men caught breaching the orders in a Thornton park on Saturday night allegedly because they wanted to smoke marijuana.
Other breaches revealed on Tuesday included a man who spoke to police at Bondi beach about 11.15pm, telling the officers he had been to a fast food restaurant at Mascot and "wanted to get out a bit".
"The man later claimed that he was there to exercise despite the time of the night and the fact that he was wearing thongs," police said in a statement.
A 27-year-old man who travelled from Casino to Nimbin because "he was bored" and did not believe in coronavirus also got a $1000 fine.
