Pair from Bristol stopped by police 140 miles away from home because they wanted to look at a puppy

Pembrokeshire Police have taken to social media to warn drivers not to violate the current government rules after a driver and passenger from Bristol were caught driving to look at a puppy.

Current government guidelines mean you can only leave the house for essential work, shopping, travel if it is absolutely necessary or delivering medication to family members.

On top of violating the lockdown rules, the driver was uninsured, police say.

Pembrokeshire Roads Policing Unit, stopped the car on the A477 near Kilgetty in Pembrokeshire.

Pembrokeshire Police tweeted on Friday (April 17) : "Vehicle stopcheck with @RPUCarms earlier, on a vehicle from the Bristol area.

"Driver reported for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence & whilst uninsured. Passenger reported for permitting both offences.

"Both reported re. non essential travel. Vehicle seized."
