Pair face court over Tas chainsaw attack

A couple have faced court accused of cutting a man's left forearm and right hand with a chainsaw. (AAP)

A couple facing charges over an alleged chainsaw attack at a property in southern Tasmania have faced court.

Neville Perryman, 56, and Lisa Ann Perryman, 53, are accused of wounding, assault and common assault following the incident at the tiny town of Middleton in November.

They are also charged with being the owner of a dog that attacks a person.

It is alleged the Perrymans, who appeared briefly in Hobart Magistrates Court on Wednesday, wounded a man by cutting his left forearm and right hand with a chainsaw.

They are also accused of assaulting a woman by operating a chainsaw in a threatening manner, causing her to believe she would be assaulted.

The Perrymans are yet to enter pleas to the charges, with the matter adjourned until May 11.
