Pair convicted after elderly woman finds sawn-off shotgun in her garden

A man and a woman have been found guilty of firearms offences after an elderly woman found a sawn-off shotgun and ammunition in her garden.

Ashley Cumberpatch, 34, and Kelly Duong, 31, both of Amesbury Circus, Aspley, were convicted by a jury on Friday (August 30) at Nottingham Crown Court following a trial.

Cumberpatch was found guilty of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and possession of a firearm without a certificate.

Duong was found guilty of possession of a firearm without a certificate.

The pair were forensically linked to the shotgun and cartridges which were found wrapped up in bags by a Farnsfield woman at the bottom of her garden on October 25, 2017.

The items were recovered by police and DNA was found linking them to Cumberpatch and Duong.

Cumberpatch was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on September 4.

Duong was granted bail and is due to appear for sentencing on the same date.
