Pair caught stealing £5k worth of clothes from Buchanan Street shop

Two men have been caught stealing thousands of pounds worth of clothes from a shop on Buchanan Street.

The pair, aged 35 and 53, were arrested after police discovered them in possession of goods worth £5,000 on March 23.

They were charged in connection with theft by housebreaking and held in custody ahead of a court appearance.

Non-essential shops, including those on Buchanan Street, remain closed due to the coronavirus lockdown. They are set to reopen from April 5 after the 'Stay Home' message is changed to 'Stay Local'.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Two men, aged 35 and 53, have been arrested and charged in connection with a theft by housebreaking at a shop in Buchannan Street on Tuesday, 23 March.

"Officers discovered the men in possession of over £5000 worth of clothing. They were held in custody to appear in court."
