Pair arrested in Dublin after gardai find illegal drugs and €14k cash hidden in car

Gardai have arrested two women after discovering illegal drugs and a large sum of money hidden in a car.

Officers belonging to the Crumlin District Drugs Unit stopped a vehicle on the Drimnagh Road today.

During the search of the car, gardai discovered 2kg of cannabis herb in the boot of the vehicle.

A total of €14,930 in cash was also found concealed in the car.

Two women, aged in their 20s, were arrested at the scene and taken to Crumlin Garda Station. They are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

A garda spokeswoman said: "During a follow-up search operation at a residence in Dublin 12, Gardaí seized a further quantity of cannabis herb and cannabis resin. The total value of drugs seized is estimated at €66,000. All drugs will now be sent for analysis.

"Investigations are ongoing."
