The two were arrested on August 7 and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 in separate North Dublin Garda Stations, Dublin Live reports.

They will appear in the Criminal Court of Justice at 10:30am.

A spokesman for gardai said that the investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.

Emergency services were called to a house at 10:20pm on Tuesday, July 2, following the incident.

The young girl was rushed to Temple Street Children's Hospital immediately where she received medical treatement.
