A 90-years-old Manchester paints supplier has "great confidence" in its future growth despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
HMG Paints, which has supplied Aardman Animations' film 'Pirates in an Adventure with Scientists' as well as to Aston Martin Racing and Jaguar, added that despite the on-going crisis, the company had achieved a "robust year".
The update has been included in newly filed documents to Companies House for its financial year to September 30, 2020, in which its turnover went from £20.9m to £19.7m and pre-tax profits remained static at £1.2m.
A statement signed off by the board said: "Despite the unprecedented backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, the financial year 2019/20 was a robust year for HMG Paints and represents out continued efforts in building a business which celebrated its 90th anniversary shortly after the financial year end.
"During this year of economic uncertainty and political instability, the company demonstrated its agility and adaptability in extending its product range and managing to secure several new contracts which have strengthened our customer base.
"We have also seen substantial growth in water-based, decorative paint sales.
"We have monitored and controlled costs throughout this challenging year and navigated through the pandemic with the help of the Government's Job Retention Scheme.
"Considering this, turnover and profitability are acceptable given the challenges faced by the company through the year.
"Overall, we are satisfied with the performance of the business through 2019/20 and we look forward to the financial year 2020/21 and beyond with great confidence in our abilities to continue to grow the business."
