‘Painted rainbow’ backpack clue as frantic search launched for missing Scot

Police are appealing for help to find a young woman who has been reported missing from her home in the Highlands.

Ella Quinn Herrick was last seen in the village of Bower, near Wick, at around 10pm on Wednesday night before vanishing.

The 20-year-old’s disappearance is described as ‘completely out of character’ by police and concern for her welfare continues to grow.

Ella is described as being around 5ft 4in tall, of a slim build and has blue eyes.

Her hair is brown and cut into a shoulder length style with a shaved section at the back.

She was last seen carrying a distinctive brown satchel bag that has a sunrise painted on the back.

Sergeant James Munro, of Wick Community Policing, said: “This is completely out of character for Ella to go missing and we are appealing to members of the public who may have information about her whereabouts.

“I would ask that if you have seen or noticed anyone matching this description that you get in contact with officers.

“If there is anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage that may have captured Ella, I urge you to come forward and speak to police.

“Police can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 1450.
