Veteran broadcaster Alan Jones allegedly scolded a young athlete for wearing underwear beneath a robe in his home and gave him slobbering kisses while paying him a substantial sum.
The 85-year-old is facing the first week of a months-long local court hearing after he pleaded not guilty to 22 counts of indecent assault and sexual touching without consent.
Six men, who cannot be identified, allege Jones indecently assaulted or sexually touched them between 2003 and 2020 at locations across Sydney and the NSW Southern Highlands.
One of the men told Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court he was 14 years old and a rising athletic star when he met Jones.
The athlete said the former Wallabies coach praised his sporting prowess before giving him a phone, a car and a weekly stipend of up to $400 so he could focus on sport.
The weekly payments increased to $600 after Jones allegedly indecently assaulted the athlete and continued for nine years, the court was told.
Then the athlete received a confusing email from the former radio host's accountant which laid out payments totalling $110,000.
"My heart almost stopped," he said.
"I thought: 'there's no way I can pay that'."
By that time he didn't have much contact with Jones, but the former teacher assured him he didn't have to repay the funds.
During his second day in the witness box on Tuesday, the athlete told the court Jones had indecently assaulted him at his property in Fitzroy Falls with unwanted slobbering kisses.
He said they shared a bottle of wine before the radio giant told him: "You've got to remember there's only one rule here; there are no rules".
Jones allegedly told the athlete to have a shower and "come back in a robe and nothing else", a directive he repeated.
But the former athlete wore underpants under the robe because he thought he knew what was going to happen, based on an earlier alleged indecent assault in the car.
"I thought he wanted me to come out in the nude so he could undo my robe, just easy access, he's going to touch me," the complainant told the court.
Jones allegedly scolded the athlete for wearing underpants before groping his genitals on the lounge, stopping when the complainant said he was uncomfortable.
When the athlete went to bed, Jones allegedly followed him into the bedroom and hugged him, telling him: "I love you, mate".
He said the former teacher aggressively squeezed his bottom before kissing him and undoing his own robe so their genitals touched.
"It's probably as scared and nervous as I'd been in a long time," the former athlete said.
"I felt like my heart was going to come out of my chest."
He resolved to stand up to the influential broadcaster when he visited Jones's Sydney apartment at a later date but instead found himself subjected to another unwanted "chomping" kiss.
"I didn't think anyone would believe me," he said.
"I thought if I did stand up to him, I would lose everything."
The athlete told the court he was disappointed with himself for not standing up to Jones and had reported the matter to police because it was the "right thing to do".
"I feel like I'm here because I haven't been able to say no and stand up for the right thing," he said.
The athlete said he didn't want money for coming forward to tell his story to the court.
"What the defendant was doing was wrong and I knew it was wrong," he said.
"I just want justice for what happened and that's why I'm here."
The former talkback host has been charged with nine indecent assault offences against the complainant, all of which he denies.
His barrister suggested the former athlete may have concocted the allegations against her client, telling the court she would be testing credibility and reliability in cross-examination.
Jones watched as his accuser gave evidence from a remote room and scribbled copious notes during the second day of his fight against the allegations.
