A shop owner in Clydebank has blasted claims that he plans to reopen a deli where tragic Clydebank teenager Paige Doherty was murdered.

Evil John Leathem brutally stabbed the 15-year-old during a frenzied attack when she arrived to buy a morning roll at the Delicious Deli shop on Fleming Avenue in March 2016.

Paige Doherty's mum slams plans to reopen deli where teen was brutally murdered as 'really distasteful'

Earlier this week, Paige's devastated mum Pamela Munro hit out after it was revealed that the owner of the unit was looking at options for reopening the site.

Mr Singh, the building's owner, claimed that Fleming Foods were potentially interested in expanding their deli into the vacant premises.

He told the Evening Times : ""If it doesn’t open as a deli, it’s going to open as something else because we’re not losing money.

"It’s been three years, we can’t change the past. We’re very sorry about what happened to the girl but you’ve got to move on, we can’t leave it."

But the business owner, Mr Ahmed, has today denied that they have any plans to reopen the site.

He told the Scottish Sun : "We haven't had any talks with the building owner about moving in.

"We're not interested in that place - we have our own deli.

"It's just not true".
