The mother of two schoolgirls who were raped by a paedophile has hit out at the beast for failing to show any remorse.
The sisters, who were six and 13 at the time, had their childhoods destroyed by evil Douglas Lockhart, who was yesterday jailed for nine years.
The 63-year-old telecoms company director from Kelvindale, Glasgow, hid his sick perversions under a cloak of respectability, presenting himself as a pillar of the community.
He carried out the brutal sexual assaults behind the woman’s back and then denied any wrongdoing, forcing his young victims to endure a harrowing trial.
Lockhart was found guilty at the High Court in Glasgow last month of raping and sexually assaulting the two girls on numerous occasions between 2011 and 2013.

The girls’ mum, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, said yesterday: “He’s caused so much pain. No prison sentence will take away what he’s done.
“The only comfort we have now is knowing he won’t be able to hurt anyone else for a long time while he’s behind bars. I don’t want another family to go through the agony we have but at least we now have some sort of justice.
“He’s a dangerous man and has never shown any remorse. I suppose that’s to be expected of someone like him.
“He put my girls through a trial knowing exactly what he did to them. It’s been so emotional and they need time to heal.
“I just want people to know how awful he truly is. He should never be allowed near children again.”

Sentencing Lockhart, Judge Lady Johnston QC said: “It was clear in the evidence given to the court that each girl has suffered greatly and continues to do so.
“You have shown no remorse for what you have done and continue to deny your responsibility.
“I’ve taken into account all that’s been said on your behalf and the character references before me. However, only a substantial sentence of imprisonment will reflect the abhorrence the court feels for crimes of this nature and serve to protect others from you.”
The court heard that the pervert has a previous conviction for domestic abuse. The judge ordered that Lockhart be placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
Fighting back tears, the victims’ mum said her children had been left damaged by their abuser.

She added: “He’s a horrible, aggressive man and we have to live with what he’s done for the rest of our lives.
“He’s damaged my children and who knows what else he is capable of?
“He’s never apologised for what he’s done.
“I hope everyone remembers his face and that he is never able to target another family.”
The mum said she has struggled to cope since the ordeal her daughters went through was revealed.
She added: “I have to stay strong for my family. This has at least brought us some closure.”
The mum is being supported by Glasgow Women’s Aid.
She said: “I couldn’t have got through the court case and the sentencing without my support worker. She’s been amazing during a very difficult time and has helped every step of the way.
“I really don’t know how I would manage without them. I cannot thank the charity enough.”
