Paedophile tried to talk to 'child' online weeks after getting out of jail

A paedophile tried to contact a child online shortly after being released from prison for a similar offence.

Nathan Watson had been out of jail for 18 days when he resumed his sordid antics.

But Bristol Crown Court heard when he thought he was chatting with 13-year-old "Daisy" he was actually in contact with an adult.

Watson, 46, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to three charges of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child in August and September.

He also pleaded guilty to three breaches of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, imposed in January 2018, designed to stop him reoffending.

Farah Rashid, defending, told the court: "He has a short list.

"But they are for similar matters and he had been out 18 days before these matters."

Judge Euan Ambrose told the court: "The pattern of offending is concerning.

"It is plainly a custodial sentence."

The judge ordered a probation report pending sentencing on October 30.

Watson, who appeared via video link, was remanded in custody.
