A Liverpool school has sent a warning to parents after ‘paedophile’ messages were found on pupils' phones.
Childwall Sports and Science Academy contacted a number of parents after concerns were raised about inappropriate messages and videos circulating between students.
The warning comes as Merseyside Police said they are investigating after a teenage girl received messages with “sexual content” via WhatsApp.

It is understood the school contacted parents who in turn checked their children’s mobile phones and found a number of concerning messages, videos and phone numbers relating to the incident.
Officers investigating the matter have spoken to one of the pupils exposed to the material and confiscated the phone in order to determine where they have originated from.
Detective Sergeant Adam Dagnall of Merseyside Police, said: “We received a report yesterday, Wednesday, June 23, that a teenage girl had received messages with sexual content via W hatsApp on her mobile phone.
"It is believed the messages originated overseas. The girl is in the process of being spoken to by officers and enquiries are ongoing.”
A concerned party raised the issue to parents of Childwall Sports and Science Academy in a public post online after it became apparent a number of children had been exposed to the messages.
The post read: “Parents of children in Childwall Sports and Science Academy please check your children's phones. There are phone numbers of paedophiles being passed around the school. The police are involved. Posted for awareness.”
It is believed CEOP, Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command have also been notified.
The ECHO has contacted Childwall Sports and Science Academy for comment.
Detective Sergeant Adam Dagnall added: “We would strongly advise parents to be satisfied that they know who their children are engaging with, be that via social media or through gaming on Xboxes and PlayStation and want to raise awareness of the importance of setting parental controls on computers, games consoles and electronic devices to keep children safe, so they are not exposed to potentially harmful and inappropriate material online.”
