Paedo kids karate instructor caught with sick child abuse images for second time faces jail return

A disgraced children's karate instructor faces being sent back to prison after being caught with child porn images for a second time.

David McAusland, 56, was caught with a sickening haul of child pornography and bestiality images during a police raid on his Dundee home.

McAusland, who previously served two years behind bars for sharing indecent images with other paedophiles, has been told he should prepare for another jail term.

Sheriff Gregor Murray deferred sentence for reports and said: "It is almost inevitable that another extended custodial sentence will be imposed.

"My primary concern is your previous conviction and the short time the extended sentence had expired."

Dundee Sheriff Court was told that police officers discovered the vile material on laptops, mobile phones and labelled DVDs during a raid on his Craigie Drive home. They also found bank cards he was not supposed to have without prior permission.

The former karate instructor committed the offence shortly after the expiration of a four-year supervision order following his release from custody.

Fiscal depute Lora Apostolova said: "Police uncovered laptops, iPhones, bank cards, CDs and DVDs. The DVDs were listed as 'animal one, two, three and four.'

"Cyber crime officers attended and conducted a preview examination which found category A to C images and files with extreme pornography."

Ms Apostolova revealed hundreds of indecent images were recovered from the devices, some of which were at the highest level of depravity. The extreme pornography material had a total run-time of 41 hours.

McAusland, from Dundee, admitted possessing and downloading indecent images of children between 21 January 2020 and March 9 this year.

He also pled guilty to possessing extreme pornographic images depicting adults and children engaging in sex acts with animals and having illicit bank cards.

McAusland, who is on the Sex Offenders Register for life, was previously jailed for two years for distributing abuse images to other paedophiles.

In 2014, he was jailed for two years and four months with a four-year extended sentence after being found with nearly 3,000 child abuse images.

McAusland was coaching karate to children as young as five when he was first arrested and later became the subject of a petition by worried neighbours to remove him from his home.
