Padres pitcher Tyson Ross sells Oakland home for above asking price

Dec. 02--San Diego Padres pitcher Tyson Ross and his brother, Padres farmhand Joe Ross, have aced a sale of their home in Oakland, selling the property for $56,000 more than their asking price -- $905,000.

The contemporary residence, on about half an acre in Sequoyah Heights, sits among mature trees with a small stream running through the back of the property.

Clad in bamboo flooring, the 2,400 square feet of living space includes a living room with vaulted ceilings, a dining room, three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Among features is an updated chef's kitchen with custom cabinetry, two sinks and a heated stone floor. The bathrooms also have heated floors.

A small deck sits off of the breakfast area while a larger deck extends from the main level of the home.

Tyson Ross, 27, made his first All-Star team in 2014, going 13-14 with an ERA of 2.81 in 195.2 frames. Originally selected by Oakland in the second round of the 2008 amateur draft, he was acquired by San Diego in 2012.

Joe Ross, 21, was a first-round pick of the Padres in 2011. He finished the year 10-6 with an ERA of 3.92, splitting time between A ball and double-A San Antonio.

The brothers, both of whom starred at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, paid $725,000 for the home in late 2011, records show. Prior to becoming a homeowner, Tyson Ross lived with his parents, who own a nearby residence, for much of his tenure with the Athletics.

Katie Salvoni of Coldwell Banker was the listing agent. Linda Ehrich of Village Associates Real Estate represented the buyer in the sale.
