Padres game with Phillies postponed, scheduled as doubleheader on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA _ The Padres gained a night off and didn't lose a game on Saturday.

Steady rain expected throughout the evening prompted the postponement of their scheduled game against the Phillies four hours before the scheduled first pitch.

The game is set to be made up Sunday as part of a split doubleheader.

Luis Perdomo was scheduled to start against the Phillies' Vince Velasquez on Saturday, with Tyson Ross to go against Nick Pivetta on Sunday. Ross and Pivetta will start the first game Sunday with Perdomo going against Velasquez in the night game.

The Padres have lost six straight games, including 11-5 to the Phillies on Friday.

The Padres' last rainout was May 7, 2017, at home against the Dodgers. It was just the third rainout in the history of Petco Park, which opened in 2004.
