Padres' Fernando Tatis Jr. expected to miss another week

DENVER _ It appears the Padres are at least a week away from getting rookie shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. back in the lineup.

"The anticipation he's back this coming series or next series is way too fast," manager Andy Green said Sunday.

Sunday was an off-day for Tatis in Arizona, where he is doing baseball activity, including running at something like 75 percent as he works back from a strained left hamstring.

"He's not full-bore at this point," Green said. "... We said from the beginning _ his pace. We don't get to dictate the pace. He dictates it by how he feels every day. And he's not ready to come back."

The Padres are off Monday before playing two games against the Dodgers in Los Angeles and then hosting the Pirates for four games at Petco Park.

Tatis was leading the Padres in most offensive categories when he suffered the injury April 28 stretching to make a catch at second base.
