Padraig McCrory taking inspiration from new world champ Anto Cacace

Padraig McCrory says the world title success of Anto Cacace has given him added motivation heading into his own date with destiny later this month.

Cacace claimed the IBO world super-featherweight title with a superb win over Michael Magnesi last Saturday night in Manchester.

McCrory will challenge for the IBO world light-heavyweight belt in Germany on October 22 when he takes on Leon Gunn in Frankfurt.

The two West Belfast boxers both live in Ladybrook in Andersonstown, and McCrory admits it would be "amazing" to have two world champions hail from the .

"Anto is from Ladybrook, and I live in Ladybrook now. So to have two world champions from that small area would be amazing. And it has given me that extra motivation to it," McCrory told Belfast Live.

"Everyone knows how good Anto is, but unfortunately he has endured loads of letdowns.

"But now the greater public are starting to notice him and they will see him grow and grow."

McCrory feels Cacace deserves more praise for claiming the IBO world title last week.

It was the latest stellar achievement from the 33-year-old who has also held the British title.

"Anto Cacace did it last week. I feel he didn't get the plaudits he should have got from local media, but he is champion of the world and has the world at his feet," McCrory added.

"Hopefully I am in the same place in three weeks.

"Anto has always had the talent and I think he can go even further. He has the potential of securing his family's future because he is good enough.

"I spent a small time with him in training camp. And he is a brilliant lad."
