Padraig Harrington rolled back the years to put himself in contention early on after the first round of the US PGA Championship.
Harrington, who won the 2008 edition of the tournament, remained rock steady on his first nine holes, birdieing the par-5 7th on a day where many players struggled on the ocean course at Kiawah Island.
Although he bogeyed the 10th, he instantly responded with a superb eagle at 11.
A solid round finished off with a bogey at 16 and back-to-back pars to leave Harrington at -1 - four shots off clubhouse leader Corey Connors.
Shane Lowry had a mixed bag, with an early birdie on the third countered by a bogey at the eighth.
A number of birdie opportunities were not taken, with the Offaly native coming up an inch either side of the cup on multiple occasions.
But he made a critical error on his penultimate hole - double bogeying the par 3.
Rounding off with a birdie undid some of the damage, leaving him at +1 for the day and the round.
Rory McIlroy on the other hand did not have a welcome return to Kiawah Island's Ocean Course - where he stormed to victory in 2012
McIlroy signed for a three-over 75 after a disastrous start to the day.
He hooked his opening drive into the water and as a result started with a bogey.

Back to back birdies seemed to fix the problem, though he would bogey again to go through the turn even par.
Three more bogeys followed in the next five holes before he went birdie-bogey-par-par to finish at +3.
