Padraic Maher joins Liam Cahill's Tipperary coaching ticket

Padraic Maher has been named as a selector on Liam Cahill's proposed coaching ticket for the Tipperary hurlers.

Maher, who announced his inter-county retirement five months ago, is to join Loughmore-Castleiney’s Declan Laffan and TJ Ryan of Clonoulty-Rossmore as selectors for the Premier County.

Three-time All-Ireland winner Maher only hung up his boots earlier this year after suffering a serious neck injury.

Laffan managed the Mid-Tipp side to a county championship in 2013 and led Clough Ballacolla to successive county titles in Laois in the past two years.

Ryan, meanwhile, worked with Cahill as selector at minor, under 20 and under 21 levels in the past, enjoying much success together.

It was announced earlier in the week that Michael Bevans will again be part of Cahill's management team, which will be proposed for ratification at the next county board meeting.
