Padog Bends crash kills motoryclist in his 40s

A motorcyclist has died after a two-vehicle crash on the A5 Padog Bends near Betws-y-Coed.

North Wales Police said the crash happened shortly before 11.15am on Monday when a Volkswagen Sharan and a Honda motorcycle were involved in a crash.

A spokesman for the force said the motorcyclist, a man aged in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Volkswagen also suffered minor injuries.

The road has been closed for police investigation work to be carried out.

Sergeant Jason Diamond of the roads policing unit said: “Our thoughts remain with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have seen either vehicle prior to the collision, to come forward.

“Equally anybody who may have been travelling along the A5 near Betws-y-Coed and who may have dash cam is also asked to make contact with us.”
