Paddy Power Millionaire Chase result: Banbridge Town boss Stuart King misses out on £1m as 'Geoff from Bootle' scoops prize

Stuart King missed out on becoming £1m richer on Saturday as his horse Hasanabad finished fourth in the Paddy Power Millionaire Chase.

The big finale saw Paddy Power turn one lucky punter into a millionaire, with 'Geoff from Bootle' claiming the huge prize after his horse Langer Dan surged clear to win at odds of 5/1.

Only nine horses featured in the race following a number of withdrawals due to the conditions.

Banbridge Town boss King was originally drawn Highway One O Two but that was declared a non-runner on Saturday morning.

He was then fortunate enough to pick up Hasanabad for the race, whose odds were slashed from 25/1 to 10/1.

Nine lucky punters ended up involved in the Millionaire Chase, each being drawn a random horse in the Imperial Cup at Sandown.

Hasanabad was nestled in behind the leaders for most of the Grade 3 hurdle contest, but when it came to the business end of the race it struggled in the soft ground.

Langer Dan had no such problems underfoot, racing clear to win by four-and--half lengths.

So it was disappointment for Stuart, but he still walks away with a decent £10,000 consolation.
