Paddy Power Golf Shootout: When, where and how to watch Harry Kane in action

Sport makes a comeback of sorts this week with the Paddy Power Golf Shootout, so when is it, where can it be watched and what’s it all about — and why is Harry Kane involved?

The lowdown

Tottenham Hotspur’s Kane is the leading figure in a Pro-Am tournament taking place on Friday.

England’s captain and Jose Mourinho’s key man in attack will undergo his usual club training in the morning, then it’s off to the golf course behind closed doors as he takes part in an unusual series of events and challenges.

Those will range from the ‘Happy Gilmore Longest Drive Challenge’ to the ‘Blind Putting’ event — with a special football-themed challenge for Kane being the ‘Shot at Goal’, where contestants will attempt to use their clubs to send their balls into football nets across the fairway.

The Shootout itself is a round-robin event with a final at the end and, in football-familiar style, it will be three points for a win and one for a draw.

When and where?

The shootout takes place on Friday, June 5, at the Centurion Club in Hertfordshire. Behind closed doors, of course, and with all contestants and crew having been health-checked.

What time?

Tee-off is at 12pm — or after Kane arrives “direct from training” if you prefer. The Shootout has a 3:45pm tee-off time.

Where can I watch it?

The event will be shown on YouTube from Paddy Power’s channel, presented by Georgie Bingham.

Taking part

For the golf pros, the five contenders are world No. 10 Tommy Fleetwood, Ryder Cup-winning captain Thomas Bjorn, European Tour golfer Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston, Ladies European Tour star Carly Booth and former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley.

The celebrities taking part along with Kane are former England, Spurs and Liverpool forward Peter Crouch, Sky pundit and former midfielder Jamie Redknapp, television presenter Piers Morgan and retired cricketer Freddie Flintoff.

What are the challenges?

The competition will consist of the following challenges: Golf Pong, The Happy Gilmore Longest Drive Challenge, The Hardest Shot in Golf, Blind Putting, Shot at Goal, Closest to the Pin, World Record Putting Challenge and the Fastest Time to Complete a Hole.

It will be followed by the Shootout: a round-robin competition in which the contestants will attempt to score points by getting as close to the pin as possible.
