Paddy Power beam cheeky message onto side of Inis Mór ahead of All Ireland final clash between Galway and Kerry

Things are heating up in Galway and Kerry with the All Ireland senior football final just a couple of days away.

The tension in the air in both counties is palpable, with Galway looking to end a 21 year wait to win the Championship, while Kerry are in the midst of a seven year drought.

And while Kerry raised eyebrows with their planning of a post match celebration in a snazzy Dublin club, the Kingdom will undoubtedly be perturbed by a gigantic hologram that his appeared on the face of Inis Mor, courtesy of Irish Bookmakers Paddy Power.

The bookmaker took to the seas to project an image on the cliff-face beneath the collapsed fort of Dún Aonghusa - which sits opposite Kerry’s Dingle Peninsula - carrying a cheeky message to stoke rivalry between both camps.

The message reads 'Galway: Collapsing Kingdoms since 1000 BC'

Dún Aonghusa is of course one of the most famous historical sites in all of Galway. Standing on the edge of Inis Mór overlooking the vast Atlantic ocean, the prehistoric hill fort has stood imperiously for thousands of years.

And while nature has taken its toll on the fort, it still stands defiantly after all these years.

But an entirely different force of nature is plotting the collapse of another Kingdom this weekend as the Tribesmen bid to overthrow Kerry.

Galway, who began the year as 20/1 shots, are one step away from capturing Sam Maguire but remain the 11/4 outsiders to lift the cup with their opponents Kerry as short as 1/4 to add to their 37 titles.

The projection is over 60 metres tall, which is the equivalent of 33 David Cliffords, and faces directly towards Co. Kerry which can be seen from the fort on a clear day.

In order to project the image onto the cliffs, a team of experts braved the Atlantic Ocean in a boat, armed with a custom built gobo, while two drones captured the feat from the skies.

Paddy Power, a spokesperson for the Irish brand, said: “While our heads and our odds are projecting a Kerry win, this projection comes from the heart, which is always with the underdog. If Galway win, Sam will most definitely have a VIP pass to the champagne tent at the Galway Races next week.”
