Paddy McGuinness shares his favourite home-cooked meals - including Wagon Wheels with cocktail sausages

It looks like Paddy McGuinness has had to fend for himself this weekend without his wife Christine at home.

But that doesn't seem to bother the BBC Top Gear presenter as he "lives the dream" on his own.

Paddy, from Bolton, who is paid to taste-test new products from M&S Food, shared snaps of this favourite home-cooked meals to his Instagram stories.

The 45-year-old proudly presented his bizarre culinary creations, including cocktail sausages partnered with a side of Hula Hoops and a Wagon Wheel chocolate.

The father-of-three explained the reasoning for his childish combinations that appear to be his ideal menu: "The good lady is away so I'm living the dream on my own."

In one social media post to his 1.1m followers, he described his "gastronomic masterpiece" consisting of sloppy cottage pie with microwaved garlic bread covered in cheese spread.

Another of the Take Me Out presenter's offerings was a number of British classics in one dish consisting of; baked beans, pie, curry sauce, chips and a fish finger sandwich.

However this weekend's 'treats' don't appear to be something of a new habit as the comedian joked to his followers: "Now, where did I put that Gaviscon?" in reference to getting heartburn if he carries on.

Last year Paddy, along with TV personalities Amanda Holden, Emma Willis and Rochelle Hulmes, signed up to become M&S Food ambassadors to promote their latest products. A series of adverts have been produced from the collaboration.

It appears that Paddy also gets creative with the up-market chain's products, as in an M&S video on their website, the food taster names his favourite buys from the store as cold meats.

"My favourite is the antipasti snacking platter – you can put them all together and every bite tastes amazing."

Aside from his food fascination, Paddy posted to his followers again this weekend with a collage on Sunday of his time presenting the new series of Top Gear.

It's the last episode of the series tonight, which has been BBC2's highest rating show so far this year.

He added: "Can’t wait to show you what we’ve got up our sleeves for series 2 and, of course, our Christmas special!!!"

You can catch Top Gear tonight on BBC2 at 9pm.
