Paddy McGuinness out of Soccer Aid hours before match

Paddy McGuinness has had to pull out of Soccer Aid hours before the match.

He is the second celebrity to drop out of this year's charity match, which will take place at the Etihad Stadium tonight (Saturday).

Paddy, 48, announced on Twitter - the day after his debut as Question Of Sport host - that he was withdrawing from the match following an injury.

He was due to play for the England side.

The Bolton TV star tweeted: "Good luck to both teams today at @socceraid for @UNICEF_uk gutted I’ve had to withdraw with injury.

"If you’ve got a ticket you’re in for an absolutely great day for a great cause."

On Friday, Capital FM DJ Roman Kemp pulled for the World XI side after testing positive for coronavirus.

The 28-year-old tweeted: “I’ve had a positive test come through so I won’t be playing at @SoccerAid tomorrow night.

“I’ll be cheering from a sofa and hope that everyone donates as much as they can for the cause.

“Come on Soccer Aid World XI FC!”

Live coverage of the 10th match begins at 6.30pm on ITV, with Dermot O'Leary as host.

The game will kick-off at 7.30pm with coverage due to end at 10pm.

Celebrities still taking the the pitch for Soccer Aid to raise money for Unicef include Olly Murs, Aitch, Martin Compston.

Former footballers Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Jamie Carragher, will also be playing in the match between the England and World XI FC.
