Paddy McGuinness leaves fans divided with 'abomination' tea snap as he reunites with ex-Christine

Paddy McGuinness certainly knows how to divide the internet when it comes to food as it's not the first time his opinions on certain meals have got people talking. This time, it was the Top Gear host's chippy tea order that got a pride of place on his Instagram grid.

Bolton-born Paddy kicked off his weekend in classic takeaway style by ordering pie and chips from his local chip shop. And while that all sounds fine, it was his choice of accompaniments that rattled some while others were left in pure envy.

"Send it! Chips, pudding, beans and gravy with a buttered barm and a tub of curry sauce. Full s**g," Paddy captioned the photo of his meal of champions which he shared with his two million followers.

Fellow northerner Gemma Atkinson was among the first to respond. The pregnant Hits Radio host, from Bury, wrote: "Buttered barm and curry alone would suit me! Slab it on!" Meanwhile Liverpudlian hockey player and Question of Sport co-star Sam Quek replied: "Get out with those beans! Time and a place mate. Replaced with peas and your laughing!"

And when it came to his fans and followers, there were many elements to his meal that got them sharing their responses in the comments section. However, there was one thing in particular that people seemed universally against and that was the beans.

@gerardburns2 said: "Beans.....Beans??? Name and shame the chip shop that sells Beans, its peas, gravy and curry sauce. Anything else is just wrong...." @mrb0874 wrote: "Beans n Gravy? Belongs on rate my plate this abomination." @kristian_36 replied: "Beans? You're an absolute wrong'un."

@becs_ash commented: "Chips, graveh, puddin and a barm all day long…..beans? WTAF….and I’m a fellow Boltonian." @joanna.biddy.norm typed: "Beans? No just no your from Bonny Bolton only peas allowed!" @simon.olive2019 posted: "Has to be mushy peas instead of the beans Paddy. You should know that as a fellow Bolton lad."

@gemhig shared: "@mcguinness.paddy you dont mix gravy and bean juice man..... come on... im usually with you on food, but that my friend, is a crime..." @debs1green added: "Beans soooo wrong it's mushy peas all the way, come on paddy get a grip lad."

But Paddy was too busy to get into any food-based arguments as over the weekend, he reunited with his ex-wife Christine to throw a fun-filled bash for their eldest children. The former couple's twins Leo and Penelope turned 10 on Sunday (July 2) and the pair couldn't have been prouder of the first-borns.

"Celebrating my twinnies 10th birthday. Double figures, double love," Christine penned alongside pictures from the special day which showed her holding on to an impressive Pokemon-themed cake before she had a go on the bouncy castle and inflatable slide that had been erected in their sprawling garden for the day.

"Leo and Penelope you changed my world for the better, I’m so proud of you both, feeling extremely grateful I get to be your mummy and you are my babies forever," Christine added. She then explained why fans are yet to see their children's faces, with both Christine and Paddy only ever sharing pictures that obscure their identity. "If there was ever a day I wanted to share a picture of them it’s today," the mum-of-three admitted.

"But when they’re old enough they can decide for themselves. I can tell you they’re getting so tall, their smiles are just gorgeous and they have the most beautiful brown eyes I’ve ever seen."

Paddy was also keen to share pictures from the special day, echoing the post of his former wife, and said: "The memories of rocking my twin babies to sleep, one on each arm, is still vivid in my mind. They’re now 10 years old!!! My heart aches with love but my arms ache even more! Happy 10th birthday Leo and Penelope. I love you. Daddy."

It comes after they both attended the sports day of their three children - including youngest daughter Felicity - who all have autism after they agreed to take part for the first time.
