Paddy McGuinness describes Top Gear’s death defying ‘wall of death’ stunt that left him ‘terrified’

Top Gear’s Paddy McGuinness has opened up on one of the most dangerous stunts the TV personality has ever attempted on the hit BBC show.

Top Gear returned to our screens at the weekend, with Paddy and his Co presenters, Chris Harris and Freddie Flintoff participating alongside him in the fast-paced and stunt filled motor show.

The show made its debut on BBC One and in the coming weeks, the trio of presenters take part in some outrageous and death defying stunts, however, none more so than the aptly named, ‘wall of death’

The ‘wall of death’ has been described as one the most hair-raising stunts ever attempted as Paddy openly admitted he feared his ‘life was in danger at one point’.

In next week’s episode, Paddy and Co can be seen steering a vehicle around a wooden cylinder, travelling on a vertical wall, held in place only by friction and gravity. This was all at 50mph in one of the toughest challenges to date.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, with Piers Morgan and Suzanna Reid, Paddy revealed it was ‘genuinely terrifying’

“The wall of death was genuinely terrifying, that was one of the hardest things we’ve had to do on the show.

Top Gear is aired every Sunday on BBC One at 8pm.

Paddy said: “So we all turned up to do the wall of death. We don’t tell our families when we do these things on the day. Once you tell them they start getting worried and they put a seed of doubt in your head.
