Paddy McGuinness congratulates former employee who bagged £58million lotto prize

TV star Paddy McGuinness has congratulated joiner Ryan Hoyle after he bagged £58million in the lotto.

The Take Me Out host revealed he had hired Ryan, whose EuroMillions win we revealed this week, in the past.

Paddy, 46, tweeted yesterday: “Really pleased for this guy. He worked on my very first house and you couldn’t meet a nicer lad. Congratulations Ryan”. The TV star signed off his tweet with an emoji of a beer.

Ryan, 38, says he plans to use some of his win to build his own home.

One fan asked if their roles would now be reversed, with Ryan hiring Paddy to work on the project.

Paddy replied: “I’m a dab hand with a shovel”.

Top Gear presenter Paddy – who shares Felicity, four, and twins Penelope and Leo, six, with wife Christine Martin, 32 – was one of the hosts on last night’s BBC1 The Big Night In.

The charity show raised cash for Comic Relief and Children in Need.

Ryan, from Rochdale, Gtr Manchester, bagged £58,366,487 in last Friday’s EuroMillions.

He currently rents a one-bed flat, but said the home he plans to build will not be too flash. He laughed: “You don’t need a swimming pool in Greater Manchester. It’s not hot enough.”

Ryan, who has a daughter age 11, did his best to celebrate his win despite social distancing, but said: “When the lockdown is finally over, I’m going to have a right good drink with a good few mates.”

And he plans to be very generous with his wealth. He said: “I’m not focused on spending it on myself. I’m going to see the family right.

“Mum works as a cleaner and has been struggling with a sore hip, so it would be great to see her take retirement. My dad can stop working at the factory. It’s also been a tough time for one of my brothers, who recently suffered a brain haemorrhage. Mum, dad and my brother can all retire this week.”

Ryan plans to treat himself to a car and a Manchester United season ticket.
