Paddy McGuinness choosing to ignore online abuse from trolls

Paddy McGuinness said he will continue to ignore comments left by trolls online regarding his personal and professional life.

The Top Gear star was placed under scrutiny when he and his wife, Christine McGuinness, announced they were separating earlier this year. The breakup appeared mutual as both parties confirmed they had each other's best interests at heart and said they would remain living together in their family home.

Paddy admitted "everyone had an opinion" but said he refused to let it get under his skin as he's been battling trolls for years.

Speaking to The Daily Star, the 49-year-old said: "If you look on any kind of social media, everyone has got an opinion. Everyone had an opinion when we took over Top Gear, everyone had an opinion when Question of Sport changed.

"And back in the day, everyone had an opinion when the host changed on X Factor. These days, everyone has an opinion on Strictly. Everyone has got an opinion on everything. And the thing is these days, everyone likes to share that opinion."

Paddy shares a lot of his life with his followers on Instagram. Despite this, he said he realised "if you buy into it too much it's not good," when it comes to the comments he receives online.
