Paddy Jackson left out of London Irish squad for Munster friendly - but protest to still go ahead

Paddy Jackson has been left out of London Irish's squad for their friendly with Munster on Friday.

But a protest against the club's signing of Jackson will still take place, reports Cork Beo.

Declan Kidney has released his squad list for Friday's challenge match with Munster and the fly-half is not included.

A protest was due to take place outside Independent Park about London Irish signing the former Irish player - but the player not travelling hasn't changed that.

The match would have marked the Ulster man's first match on Irish soil since his high-profile rape trial acquittal.

The peaceful protest already has over 100 people who have said they will attend.

Jackson signed for Perpingnan in France last season but earlier this year made the move to London Irish where he linked up with former Irish boss Declan Kidney.

London Irish sponsor and Guinness owner Diageo pulled out of their deal with the English club after the signing of the former Ulster man.

The club said in a statement: "London Irish’s management is understandably disappointed that Diageo has chosen not to renew its sponsorship agreement with the club, and particularly the manner in which the company has chosen to do so.

"The club has always respected the right for everyone to have an opinion, and their right to express that opinion."
