Paddy Doherty released from hospital days after fighting for his breath with Covid

Paddy Doherty has been sent home from hospital after fighting for his life following his coronavirus diagnosis.

The Big Fat Gypsy Weddings star, 61, took to his Facebook account on Monday night to share the good news, as he thanked all the NHS staff for looking after him and his fans for their support.

Last week Paddy was seriously unwell and on oxygen in a bid to help him battle the deadly bug.

But last night he seemed to be feeling much better, though he still appeared to be a little out of breath as he spoke directly to his followers in a video.

He said: "Thank my God, they've let me home here about half an hour ago now. I'm at home now.

"A load of steroids, I've got to take just a bag of steroids.

"I keep dosing up for ten days, I'm a new man.

"I thank you all for praying and just being concerned about me.

"The most important people I've ever seen in my life is them nurses and doctors. They're a great team."

Paddy compared them to soldiers on the front line putting themselves at risk before the rest of the soldiers have to fight.

He added: "They know exactly what's happening, they know they can catch it faster and they're putting their lives... I've never seen anything like them.

"They are the true words of God, they're are the true angels.

"There's no people like them, between the police, fire brigade people, but those nurses and doctors, they've got nerves of steel."

Paddy said he had a 50/50 chance of surviving Covid and was thrilled to be home.

"I'm home! I'm home! Be lucky and God bless yas all," he finished the video.
