Paddy Barnes calls out Piers Morgan over bronze medal jibe

Paddy Barnes has called out Piers Morgan after the television presenter mocked people celebrating bronze medals at the Olympics.

Morgan made the claim on Twitter as he questioned whether the "covid-ravaged" Tokyo Games should have done ahead.

Gary Lineker got involved in the debate which prompted Morgan's criticism of athletes "celebrating" third place.

"We can stop pretending Bronze is an achievement worthy of national celebration, but let's be honest - these Olympics are just not the same without fans," Morgan tweeted.

The former Good Morning Britain anchor added that "real sporting champions don't celebrate finishing third":

Former boxer Barnes was having absolutely none of it when he hilariously offered to fight the broadcaster for his Olympic bronze medals.

Barnes won bronze in Beijing in 2008 and in London in 2012. He also picked up three Commonwealth Games gold medals.

He tweeted: "Piers, I'll fight you for my Bronze medals."
