Paddington Races Ahead is a very enjoyable book. One story I like is called 'Mr Curry's birthday treat'. Paddington was in the garden and Mr Curry popped up from the fence. He asked Paddington if there was anything unusual about that day. Paddington replied that it was just an ordinary Wednesday. Then, Mr Curry said that it was his birthday. Paddington took a look at his birthday list. He then read out the list. He was very surprised because it said there was shaving cream Mr Curry wanted as well.
Paddington knew what his goal was for the end of the day. So, he walked off to a hairdresser and asked the man who worked there if there were any tubes of shaving cream. The man replied that today he was putting three small little tubes into one big tube! Paddington shone his face in happiness. He bought a big sized tube and as soon as he opened the lid, all of the shaving cream squirted out everywhere! This was definitely not what he was expecting. So, Paddington miserably walked home with no birthday present. But, when Paddington got home and was having tea and cake, Mr Brown shouted out that it was April fool's day that day so Paddington was fooled!
I really liked that story because you would think that it would actually be Mr Curry's birthday (because that was what I thought) but in the end Mr Brown turns it into a twist and says that it was April fool's day!
The author has described everything just right. I think there would not be anything you would have to change in the whole of the book. I think that this book will be suitable for ages of 10 and over.
Out of ten I would rate this book 10/10.
