Packers WR Randall Cobb injured groin on TD catch vs. Rams

The Green Bay Packers are still trying to nail down the severity of Randall Cobb’s groin injury, but coach Matt LaFleur said the injury occurred on Cobb’s 7-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter on Sunday.

There was no update on his status.

“We’re still gathering opinions,” LaFleur said Monday.

On the touchdown, Cobb ran an angle route out of the backfield, made the catch in between defenders and absorbed a big hit at the goal line.

“Big time credit to him to hang on,” LaFleur said.

LaFleur said he was giving some of the players grief for celebrating with Cobb in the end zone. On tape, there were subtle signs that Cobb was hobbled and hurting after scoring the touchdown.

In one half of work, Cobb delivered a season-high 95 receiving yards on four catches. He had a 54-yard catch and a 27-yard catch, both setting up scores.

The touchdown came with 4:21 left in the first half. Cobb was officially ruled out by the time coming out of halftime.

The Packers are off this week, allowing Cobb some time to heal if it’s a short-term injury. LaFleur’s team will return to the facility next Monday to begin prep for the Chicago Bears in Week 14.
